Artist Profile - A State Of Mind
A State Of Mind
I was born on 28th May 1978 in Poland. My adventure with music started in the earliest years of my life when I was listening to my father's records on an old Polish deck. DIORA, I think. There were early 80's and I listened to stuff like PET SHOP BOYS, MADONNA, EUROPE - everything what was at THE TOP.
When I was 8, my parents noticed my passion towards music and they decided to send me for piano lessons. I continued to learn it for nearly 9 years while my music experiences were growing, but someday I wanted something even more from music.
I met my friend DJ Pablo who used to draw me out to parties. His older brother was the best DJ in our city at that time, so we were watching him and learning. There were early 90's.
So the first parties in my life took place when I was in elementary school, then I stood behind the decks for the first time. I already then knew what I wanted to do. PLAYIN' MUSIC FOR PEOPLE!!! This feeling was awesome and I will never forget it.
At the beginning they weren't serious gigs, but in high school they became more and more serious, with a bigger meaning. Since the first grade at high school I was responsible for the school's radio and all entertainment stuff.
At that time I met my present friend Tomasz Marczak, a.k.a. DJ Buli, who taught me how to use a microphone in the right way and how to speak to the crowd to make them happier when dancing. Now Tomek is the best dance DJ I've ever known, although personally he's the biggest fan of Chris Liebing.
After the second grade (17) I started real work as a DJ earning first money for that job. It was near Czestochowa, in the Randez-Vous Club for over 1000 people. That was an amazing time in Poland because everything in music was taking a good direction. In short: in early 90's we played mostly dance music like: MAXX - Get a Way (1993), PANDORA - Trust Me(1993), DR ALBAN - It's My Life(1992) and more of his stuff, HADDAWAY - What Is Love(1992) and others too, C&C MUSIC FACTORY - Gonna Make U Sweat(1990), ADAMSKI - Killer(1990), 2 UNLIMITED - Get Ready For This(1991), TWENTY 4 SEVEN - Slave 2 The Music (1993), 2 BROTHERS ON THE 4th FLOOR - Never Alone(1993) Dreams(1994), but also harder stuff, much different than actual techno trance music though, for example: U96 - Das Boot (1991), SCOOTER - Hyper Hyper(1994) till 96.
Then I reached for a few tracks which rocked the Club in a harder way, more similar to these days: DJ DISCO - Dirty Disco Dubs(1997) Stamp Your Feet (1998), DJ QUICKSILVER - Belissima(1996), Free(1997), Planet Love(1997), DR MOTTE & WESTBAM - Sunshine(1997), DA HOOL - Meet Her At The Loveparade(1996), Bora Bora(1997), Hypochonda(1998), SASH! Feat DODRIGUEZ - Ecuador(1997), THREE'n'ONE - Sin City(1997), SCOOTER - Fire(1997), DISCO NATION - Rock Da Jam(1997), PORN KINGS - Amour(1997), SEQUENTIAL ONE - Dreams(1997), but I'll never forget DARIO G - Sunchyme(1997) - something new, fresh and so much different from everything at that time. That was the first vinyl I bought ;)
So RANDEZ-VOUS Club was the first one; I played there in years 97-98. I moved then to another one - NANU CLUB located near the city called Opole. The biggest hits of this club and time: WESTBAM - Hardtimes, NOVY & ENIAC - Superstar, DJ SAMMY - Prince Of Love, MEMBERS of MAYDAY - Sonic Empire, DJ TONKA - She Knows You, ABSOLOM - Secret, Dr MOTTE & WESTBAM - Love Parade 1998.
I stayed in NANU till Oct '98. The next one was the KISS CLUB in Olesno. I've got my first student DJ there - that was Adam Mitrenga a.k.a. DJ MITER now. The biggest stuff of that time: MEMBERS OF MAYDAY - Save The Robots, PAFFENDORF - Smile, MUSIC INSTRUCTOR - Supersonic [brainbug rmx], Get Freaky, ATB - 9.P.M, MISS JANE - It's a Fine Day [atb rmx], CAMISRA - Let Me Show u Something Special, DIAL M FOR MOGUAI - Beatbox, PvD - For An Angel, Westbam - Agharta.
Eventually, I didn't play even a year there, cause I got an offer to work in the biggest clubs network in the country - PROTECTOR - which I accepted with pleasure. Then I started a new adventure in PROTECTOR CLUB located near Wielun. I played there from '99 till '02. I'll never forget the first gig in this club. I had a dilemma on what to play; it was a brand new club in a brand new place. Every rival club was a dance club, not techno, house or trance. I was a DJ who preferred a much different style of music than other local DJS and I didn't want to became fully an only dance DJ. So at the first gig I decided that I would play for people a little bit different than they were used to. The Very First Powerplay of this very first night was a brand new single of Binary Finary - 1999 [kay cee rmx] and that was a splendid decision.
People loved the club from the first night when they heard these awesome tunes. During those few years I spent in this wonderful place I played a lot of great tracks that have become music symbols now, like: BARTHEZZ - On The Move, SAFRI DUO - Played Alive, CJ STONE - Infinity, SM-TRAX - Got The Groove, Is Calling, BAD HABIT BOYS - Weekend, Rock Ya, MR PHILIPS - 7th Day, MARC ET CLAUDE - Tremble, BLANK & JONES - After Love, Cream, Beyond Time, The Nightfly, Nightclubbing, Desire, DANCE NATION - Sunshine, ATB - Don't Stop, Killer, The Summer, Hold You, Let U Go, You're Not Alone, HARDY HARD - Here Comes That Sound, Partyhardy, VOODOO & SERANO - Blood is Pumpin, Sllide To The Vibe, When I Rock, BOMFUNK MC'S - Freestyler, RANK 1 - Airwave, Such Is Life, Awakening, CYGNUS X - Superstring, SWENSON & GIELEN - Twisted, and many many many more which I won't mention. (the list is too long).
After the PROTECTOR near Wielun time came for the PROTECTOR CLUB in Glogow. This is my present CLUB and it's the biggest in my whole career.
